Catherine Asego is an advocacy, strategic communications, and research professional with extensive experience in conceptualizing, implementing, and managing programs to promote evidence-based programming for sustainable development, especially for underprivileged communities. She has extensive experience in organizing teams across the Continent for collective advocacy on the education and well-being of women and girls. Currently, she is the Senior Advocacy and Partnerships Officer at FAWE where she provides technical management of the advocacy work, fosters partnerships with global, regional, and national stakeholders, and strengthens the capacity of the FAWE network to respond to the educational needs of girls and women. Previously, she worked at the African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC), where she coordinated the Regional Education Learning Initiative, which enhances collaboration and learning among 70 partner organizations working to address challenges facing the education sector in the region and created strong networks of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) while empowering them to use evidence to engage policymakers for improved education of learners living in informal settlements across East Africa. She has a Master of Arts degree in project planning and management and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. She is a 2015 Mandela Washington Fellow under the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), and serves as a Board member at the Education for All Children (EFAC) in Kenya.
