Translation is genuinely international. It promotes communication between global communities, businesses and organisations. Without translators, communication would be difficult and the chances of carrying out trade and solving global issues would be almost non-existent.

Misunderstandings among nations and cultures can be resolved if there is mutual understanding and a common will to overcome challenges. This year’s theme aims to encourage people to break cultural barriers and be tolerant. One way of doing this is by learning another language for greater harmony in global communication. The United Nations considers multilingualism an important value for global understanding.

Promoting Multilingualism Through Professional Language Services

With roots in Sweden since 1989, Tamarind Language Services is East Africa’s leading professional language service provider. We opened our Nairobi office in 2009. Our partners, suppliers and friends are the foundation for our success and we extend our sincere thanks for their continued support.

Document translation and conference interpretation is our core business. We work with every required language, particularly the official UN languages: English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Russian and Arabic. Several UN and AU agencies, as well as local and international organisations and corporates in and outside Kenya, are our clients.

In May 2022 we were the official language partner of the 9th Africities Summit, hosted by the Kenyan Government in Kisumu, with over 10,000 delegates from all over the world. Our 100 linguists facilitated communication at this major event.

Using our global network of professional translators, we translate legal, medical, technical and marketing documents. We regularly delivery subject-specific translations into African languages like Kiswahili, Shona, Ahmaric, Wolof, Xhosa, Somali. This year we have an important ongoing localisation project for a well-known international tech company entering Africa.

The restrictions of the pandemic created a demand for remote interpreting and we were quick to respond. From our specially appointed office in Nairobi’s Upper Hill, we now daily carry out Remote Simultaneous Interpretation services using our global network of interpreters, under the supervision of our appreciated project managers.

What makes us tick? Running the extra mile in every assignment. This is what makes our customers happy and that is what we strive for.
