The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) in partnership with Dubai Cares designed and implemented through FAWE Uganda (FAWEU) a 3-year project aimed at “Promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) amongst girls in Uganda to help achieve gender equality in education and overall contribute the SDGs and Agenda 2063. The STEM project promoting the uptake of STEM subjects beyond Senior Two, especially for girls comes to an end in December 2019. It is for this reason that FAWE is organizing an international girls’ STEM learning conference with the overarching theme; “Towards Effective Approaches for girls’ engagement and excellence in STEM” to be held in Kampala, Uganda February 2020. The intention is to share lessons from actions taken by FAWE, partner schools, teachers, learners and communities to enable girls to pursue and excel in science subjects. The conference will provide opportunities for partner schools and STEM practitioners to share their experiences in promoting sciences among girls; students to showcase their scientific innovations; and policy makers to dialogue with key stakeholders on the best way forward to expand reach. FAWE will also leverage on the conference to; officially launch her Online Portal/Digital Pedagogy System and a booklet profiling successful female scientists in Africa, and award best Science teachers, student ambassadors and girls’ innovations from STEM partner schools in Uganda.
The IGSLC STEM learning conference looks at providing a platform for key stakeholders (governments, educationists, donors, partners etc.) around the continent to share learnings drawn from implementing STEM projects and enhance alignment and synergies for efficiency and effectiveness of STEM education. Knowledge generated at the conference will inform the strategies for expanding reach and achieving gender equality in the pursuit of sciences in secondary schools while attending to quality STEM education. The conference will be guided by SDGs 4 and 5, Aspiration 1 of Africa’s Agenda 2063 and its Call to Action.

I am so Impressed with What FAWE is doing for the development of the Girl-child’s education, especially in STEM. I am honoured to be an Instructor in one of the Project Ongoing in North-Central Nigeria. FAWE has made it possible for our young girls to have life skills in Computing, especially working with Microsoft Apps Like, Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outllok, and Access. Through this project, the Ethnic/Religion divide in my community had been brideged. Thank you for your Interest in the African Girls and Women.
