FAWE Rwanda wrapped up a powerful mentors’ workshop, but what truly lingered wasn’t the agenda—it was the energy. A room full of mentors, each carrying stories, questions, and quiet victories, came together not just to learn, but to remember why they started.
From the first moment, there was something sacred in the air: the sharing of lived experience. The mentors—some seasoned, others newly stepping into their role—opened up about their journeys. About the shy girl who now leads debates. About the dropout who found her way back. About the girl who simply needed to be told, “you matter.”
It wasn’t always easy. There were stories of setbacks, of not knowing the right words, of facing resistance. But even in the challenges, there was power because mentorship, as one participant put it, is not about having all the answers—it’s about showing up, again and again, until a girl begins to believe in herself.
The day also offered a chance to look back at the impact of FAWE’s diverse programs. From education initiatives to leadership development, the evidence was clear: where mentorship flows, transformation follows. And then came the moment that tied it all together—a quiet, almost whispered truth that rang louder than anything else said that day:
“Support one girl, and you begin to transform a community.”
That’s not a slogan. It’s a lived reality for every mentor in the room.
As the workshop came to a close, so did any lingering doubt about what sustains FAWE Rwanda’s mission. It’s not just strategy or funding. It’s people. It’s this network of heart-led mentors who are raising not just the next generation of learners, but the next generation of leaders.
