The Africa Dialogues on Gender Equality in Education, an educative ED TALK platform that is scheduled to take place on 25th April 2018 from 1800hrs to 2000hrs at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya.
Organized by FAWE, People Initiative Foundation and other members of the girls and women education clusters on the implementation of CESA 16-25, the ED TALK with the theme ” promoting women and girls education through the implementation of the gender equality strategy for CESA 2016-2025”, will be held on the sidelines of the Pan-African High-level Meeting on Education that will be convened by UNESCO and the Government of Kenya in collaboration with the African Union, ADEA and the SDG4 co-conveners (ILO, UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNHCR, UNWOMEN and the WB). The High level Meeting is an opportunity for Member States to share their experiences and contribute to the ongoing discussions on the 2063 African Union vision: “The Africa We Want”.
The ED TALK seeks to ensure a shared understanding, collective buy in and commitment by AU Member States, policy makers and education stakeholders on promoting gender equality and inclusion in education though the implementation of the Gender Equality Strategy for CESA 16-25. The meeting will seek to interpret the Gender Equality Strategy and its implications as a guiding framework for the implementation of CESA 16-25 and pursue a commitment by AU Member States, policy makers and education stakeholders to adopt the Gender Equality Strategy for CESA 16-25.
This platform will bring together government representatives, teachers, youth, policy makers, innovative business leaders, accomplished academics, leaders of civil society organizations and other distinguished individuals. Speakers will address the theme “promoting women and girls education through the implementation of the gender equality strategy for CESA 2016-2025”. The focus will be on priority issues of the strategy such as: Out of School Children Education, STEM education, Girls education in Emergencies and post conflict situations, Education Financing among other areas.
