On September 24, 2025, the newly elected FAWE Kenya Board Members participated in an induction session held at the FAWE Africa Secretariat in Nairobi. This important exercise marked a significant step toward strengthening leadership and governance in the pursuit of equitable education for girls across Kenya.

The session aimed to orient the new Board Members on FAWE’s mission, strategic vision, governance principles, and the collective responsibility that comes with advancing gender-responsive education. Through insightful presentations and interactive discussions, participants explored FAWE’s long-standing commitment to transforming education systems to empower girls to learn, thrive, and lead.

In her opening remarks, Prof. Alice Odingo, Chairperson of FAWE Kenya, emphasized the vital role of visionary leadership in driving impactful change. She underscored the Board’s responsibility to ensure that the organization remains aligned with FAWE’s regional strategy and responsive to the evolving educational landscape in Kenya.

The induction featured enriching contributions from experienced leaders within the FAWE network, including Prof. Hazel Miseda Mumbo, Honorary Treasurer of FAWE Africa; Ms. Teresa Omondi Adeitan, Deputy Executive Director and Head of Programmes, FAWE Africa; Ms. Jeanette Nyanjom, CEO, FAWE Kenya; and Mr. Kossi Tsenou, Senior Communication Officer, FAWE Africa. Their collective insights provided valuable guidance on effective governance, strategic communication, and program implementation.

The successful completion of this induction marks a renewed commitment to “Educate to Elevate”—a vision that continues to inspire FAWE’s mission to ensure every girl has the opportunity to reach her fullest potential through quality education and empowered leadership.
