FAWEZI Hosts High-Level Stakeholders Meeting on Bridging Programs

FAWEZI, with support from FAWE and the Mastercard Foundation, convened a high-level stakeholders meeting in Zimbabwe to explore how bridging programs can open doors to higher education for young people. The meeting brought together education leaders, policymakers, and academic experts to reflect on strategies that can address the gaps faced by students transitioning to university, especially in STEM fields.

The first panel discussion focused on Zimbabwe’s current policy environment, highlighting both the challenges and the opportunities in implementing STEM-focused bridging programs within state universities. This was followed by a second panel where representatives from a Ugandan university shared their experience in running similar programs. Their insights offered practical, regionally grounded recommendations that Zimbabwe can adapt to its unique context.

This timely and inclusive dialogue is part of a broader commitment to ensuring that no young woman or man is left behind in the pursuit of higher education. By bringing local and regional voices to the table, the meeting marked a crucial step toward building scalable, transformative solutions for the future.
