On June 10, 2025, Emily Gumba, Senior Programme Officer from the FAWE Regional Secretariat, concluded a successful mission in Nigeria alongside the FAWE Nigeria team, led by National Coordinator Amina Usman. The visit focused on deepening program impact and strengthening institutional support for advancing girls’ education across the country.
During the mission, the team held key engagements with potential partners, including Foundation Pierre, Strengths Africa Ltd., and Pan-Atlantic University (PAU). These discussions explored future collaborations, particularly around FAWE’s facilitation of Gender Responsive Pedagogy (GRP) and School-Related Gender-Based Violence (SRGBV) interventions in partnership with PAU and the Mastercard Foundation.
The team also focused on refining scholar recruitment strategies for the Africa Girls’ Education Fund (AGEF) to ensure outreach to girls in underserved communities. In addition, the visit included the closeout of two major programs, Gender Responsive pedagogy (GRP) and Echidna Giving, through a review of narrative and financial reports.
FAWE Nigeria’s board and staff benefited from strategic guidance on institutional development, program alignment, and staffing structures, reinforcing their capacity to lead transformative change in the education space.
This mission underscored FAWE’s unwavering commitment to removing barriers to education and empowering the next generation of girls in Nigeria.
