One of FAWE’s interventions, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) aims to increase girls’ and women’s participation in STEM related subjects/field at primary, secondary schools and tertiary levels across Africa. This is informed by the low participation and transition rates among girls and women to STEM related career fields across Africa as compared to boys. With support from a number of partners, FAWE has been able to intervene at different levels of education to ensure that girls’ participation is increased.
In 2016, FAWE signed a 3 year partnership with Dubai Cares to further Promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) amongst girls in Uganda for equitable and sustainable development. One of the key expected output under this partnership is the profiling and publicising of successful women scientist in Africa in order to inspire young upcoming female scientist.
FAWE in partnership with Microsoft and UNESCO are working to together to document and publish a booklet profiling African Female Scientists that have and /or are making a contribution to the scientific knowledge and development.
We call on all African born female scientists living and working in any part of the World and have made remarkable contributions towards scientific body of knowledge and development.
