Among the FAWE demonstrative interventions over the years in the promotion of girls’ education is the Science, Mathematics and Technology (SMT) Model initiated in 2004. This SMT model aims at increasing the participation and performance of girls in Science, Mathematics and Technology subjects in primary and secondary schools in Africa.

Building on this initiative in 2015, Microsoft in Partnership with three (3) FAWE chapters of Zambia, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia have hosted the DigiGirlz Day, to transform learning and develop employment skills among high school girls in Zambia, Zimbabwe as well as in Ethiopia, through the Microsoft’s DigiGirlz Day. This event aims to provide high school girls with a better understanding of what a career in technology is all about.
