FAWE will hold its 2nd International Girls Conference virtually on Wednesday 18th November 2020 from 14.00hrs EAT with a key note address from Dr. Jane Nambakire Mulemwa, Chairperson, the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU). The key note address will kick of the meeting by highlighting key issues to be given priority for girls’ education in Africa.

The first FAWE’s International Conference on Girls’ Education in Africa was held in Lusaka, Zambia in 2017. The event was borne out of the conviction that for over two and half decades, FAWE had made significant contributions and changes in the education sector in Africa yet FAWE did not have a structured and international driven platform to reflect on her work as well as the work for other likeminded partners. The event provided an opportunity to celebrate FAWE successes and outline strategies on scaling up of the organization’s interventions.

FAWE has now organized the 2nd Conference themed “Towards Effective Approaches for girls’ engagement and excellence: Preparing African girls for the 21st century skills”. This conference will focus on FAWE’s and other partners interventions on Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for girls in Africa. The conference is expected to generate knowledge for effective replication and/or scale up of successful STEM interventions, Gender Responsive Pedagogy for STEM, Responsive and Quality Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) and promotion of Education Policies in STEM.

The event will be streamed live on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Forum.for.African.Women.Educationalists/
