Dr. Janvière Ndirahisha (PhD) serves as a member of the FAWE board, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the organization’s endeavors. Born on December 18, 1966, in Tangara, Ngozi Province, Burundi, Dr. Ndirahisha is a respected figure known for her dedication to education, gender equality, and the empowerment of women and girls.

Her academic journey is marked by notable achievements, including a Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, which she attained between 1998 and 2003. Prior to this, she completed a Master’s degree and Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Sciences from the same institution. Dr. Ndirahisha’s academic journey began at the University of Burundi, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics in 1991, following her completion of general humanities at Lycée Vugizo and Musenyi Primary School.

Dr. Ndirahisha’s professional trajectory is marked by diverse roles of leadership and impact. Notably, she currently serves as the Regional Director of the Regional Training on Prevention and Suppression of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR-RTF) since November 2021. Previously, she held esteemed positions such as Minister of Education, Technical and Professional Training, and Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research in Burundi. She has also been actively engaged in educational institutions and initiatives, serving as the Managing Director of Ecole Normale Supérieure and Director of the same institution, among others.

Her dedication to promoting gender equality and education is evident through her involvement in various conferences, workshops, and training sessions. Dr. Ndirahisha has participated in numerous events focused on gender mainstreaming, transformative approaches, and leadership development for women and girls across Africa.

Dr. Ndirahisha is also a published author, with contributions to various academic journals and conferences. Her research interests span mathematical sciences, non-relativistic quantum mechanics, and representations in algebraic structures.

Fluent in French and English, with proficiency in Kirundi and elementary Swahili, Dr. Ndirahisha is also adept in computer software applications such as Word, Excel, Latex, and Power Point.
