Policy Advocacy
• Trained a country core group in gender mainstreaming EFA NAPs
• Monitoring of gender responsiveness in implementation of PEDP
• Worked with Ministry of Education to institute gender responsive curriculum and teaching methodologies
• Developed a gender management training manual
Community and Grassroots Advocacy
• Lobbying activities on gender issue within Ministry of Education
• Procession in Arusha in support of girls’ education during EDEA Biennial
• Gender sensitisation programmes targeting villages, government and civic department
Demonstrative Interventions
- Bursaries for poor girls transiting to secondary schools
- Established 22 Tuseme club sand 12 FEMSA clubs in 34 schools
- Implemented an international Labour Organization (ILO) child labour project
- Remedial classes improved performance at the COE
- Community participation in curbing dropout of girls at COE
- Chapter joined Tanzania Educational Network (TEN/MET) and formed coalition to facilitate the Global Campaign for Education week
- Chapter participated in trucking funds disbursed by government for schools.
- Promoting learning of SMT among girls
- Workshop for education officials on SMT best practices
- Establishment of Tuseme clubs
- Collaboration with civic councillors leading to financial support of the centre of excellence.
