FAWE has partnered with The MasterCard Foundation to implement a ten-year scholarship program in Rwanda and Ethiopia. The program will enable a total of 2000 Scholars academically bright, but economically disadvantaged girls and boy’s access and complete secondary and university education, in high-quality institutions and thereby increase their opportunities for better livelihoods. While the project will contribute to FAWE’s goal of enabling change in girls’ education in Africa, The MasterCard Foundation will seek to realize the vision of creating positive social and economic transformation through education.

The Program provides a comprehensive scholarship package that responds not only to the scholars’ economic challenges, but also includes an array of support and enrichment. The package includes bursaries, academic enhancement tutorials where needed, youth leadership and life skills training based on the FAWE Tuseme youth empowerment model, training in ICT, entrepreneurship and financial skills, career exposition as well as linking the Scholars to the world of work.
