Emily Buyaki is a strategic communications professional with over a decade of experience using communications, storytelling and digital engagement to advance social impact across Africa. She leads strategic communications at the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Africa, providing communications leadership across a network of 34 national chapters in 33 African countries and major multi-country programmes, including the FAWE/Mastercard Foundation Phase II programme across 10 countries.
Her expertise spans strategic communications, brand and reputation management, digital communications, advocacy, media engagement, knowledge management, campaign development and evidence-based storytelling. Emily works at the intersection of communications and programme impact, translating research, policy and complex development work into compelling narratives that influence audiences, strengthen partnerships and advance policy and practice. Her work has particularly focused on amplifying the voices of girls and young women and advancing gender-transformative education across Africa.
She has led the development and implementation of organizational and programme communications strategies, strengthened communications capacity across FAWE’s continental network, and established platforms for collaboration and learning among communications professionals across Africa. Emily holds a Master of Arts in Communication Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Broadcast Media, from the United States International University–Africa (USIU-A).
