On 24 July 2026, FAWE Mozambique (FAWEMO) convened an Extraordinary General Assembly in a hybrid format, bringing together members to deliberate on matters of significant institutional interest. The session, held in accordance with the organization’s statutes, provided a space for dialogue, participation, and decision-making oriented towards strengthening FAWEMO’s organizational structure and reaffirming its commitment to transparency and good governance.

The Assembly addressed two primary agenda items: the analysis of requests for the dissolution of some members and the resignation of the President of the Board of Directors, followed by the restructuring of the Social Bodies. These deliberations reflected the organization’s dedication to maintaining robust governance structures that can effectively support its mission of promoting education and empowerment for girls and women in Mozambique.

Following the deliberations, the Assembly approved the partial restructuring of the Social Bodies of FAWE Mozambique. The newly constituted Board of Directors is now chaired by Conceita Sortane, with Cecília Xavier as Vice-President, Darcelene Macamo as Secretary, and Nelsa Lopes as Treasurer. The Board also includes Anadorse Chitlango as 1st Member, Márcia Cossa as 2nd Member, and Amina Issa as 3rd Member. A new Fiscal Council was also established, led by Sónia Lourenço Manuel as President, with Ester Enoque as Vice-President and Rosa Salomão as Secretary.

The restructuring marks a new chapter for FAWE Mozambique, positioning the organization for strengthened leadership and strategic growth. The new leadership team inherits a legacy of advocacy for girls’ education and gender equality, and is expected to build on FAWEMO’s achievements while exploring new opportunities for impact.
