FAWE Joins National Health Walk to Launch NGO Week 2026 in Sierra Leone

FAWE Sierra Leone proudly joined fellow civil society organisations, international NGOs, and national partners in a vibrant health walk to officially launch NGO Week 2026, reaffirming the vital role of civil society in advancing national development and community wellbeing. Organised in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (SLANGO) and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED), the event brought together diverse stakeholders united by a shared commitment to strengthening the impact of civil society across the country.

The health walk symbolised more than the beginning of a national celebration—it represented the collective strength, solidarity, and dedication of organisations working to address critical development challenges, including education, gender equality, health, and youth empowerment.

Celebrating Civil Society’s Role in National Development

NGO Week serves as an important platform to recognise the invaluable contributions of civil society organisations in supporting national priorities, promoting inclusive development, and improving the lives of communities across Sierra Leone. For FAWE Sierra Leone, participation in the health walk reflects its continued commitment to engaging with national platforms that strengthen partnerships and amplify the role of education in sustainable development.

Through its programmes, FAWE Sierra Leone continues to empower girls and young women through quality education, mentorship, leadership development, and advocacy. These efforts contribute not only to individual empowerment but also to broader societal transformation. Educated girls are more likely to become leaders, contribute to economic growth, and support the wellbeing of their families and communities.

Strengthening Partnerships and Collective Impact

The health walk provided an opportunity for FAWE Sierra Leone to engage with fellow civil society organisations, government representatives, and development partners, strengthening collaboration and reinforcing shared goals. Such engagements are essential in building strong networks that support coordinated action and sustainable impact.

By participating in NGO Week activities, FAWE Sierra Leone reaffirmed its role as an active contributor to national development efforts and its commitment to advancing inclusive and equitable education for all learners.

Renewing Commitment to Education and Empowerment

NGO Week is not only a moment of celebration but also a time for reflection and renewed commitment. It provides an opportunity for organisations to reflect on progress made, strengthen partnerships, and reaffirm their dedication to empowering communities through education and development initiatives.

For FAWE Sierra Leone, the message remains clear: education is a powerful driver of change. By investing in girls’ education, FAWE is helping to build stronger communities, promote gender equality, and contribute to national progress.

As FAWE Sierra Leone joined partners in launching NGO Week 2026, the event served as a reminder of the collective responsibility to continue advancing opportunities for girls and young women.

Together, through partnership, advocacy, and action, FAWE and its partners continue to educate to elevate—empowering the next generation to shape a stronger and more inclusive future for Sierra Leone.
