Empowering Young Voices: FAWE Benin Expands TUSEME Clubs in Vocational Training Centres

The Forum for African Women Educationalists national chapter in Benin—FAWE Benin—continues to strengthen girls’ leadership and empowerment through the expansion of TUSEME Clubs across vocational training centres under the 3M Project.

The rollout of this initiative began on Monday, 2 March 2026, at the Centre de Formation Professionnelle et d’Apprentissage (CFPA) in Pahou, marking an important milestone in promoting youth voice, participation, and agency among young learners.

The launch event brought together thirty newly enrolled club members, alongside parents and the administration of the training centre. This inclusive approach reflects FAWE’s commitment to engaging both learners and their support systems in fostering environments where girls can confidently express themselves and take on leadership roles.

Through the TUSEME approach—meaning “Let Us Speak Out”—young people are encouraged to identify challenges affecting their education and well-being, and to actively participate in finding solutions within their schools and communities.

Each newly established TUSEME Club office has been equipped with a dedicated workbook outlining key actions and activities to be carried out by club members. These tools are designed to guide young apprentices in organizing discussions, leading initiatives, and addressing issues that impact their learning experiences.

By providing structured frameworks for engagement, FAWE Benin is ensuring that the clubs operate effectively and sustainably, empowering learners to translate dialogue into action.

The installation of TUSEME Club offices is being implemented across nine vocational training centres (CFPA) participating in the 3M Project. Following the initial launch in Pahou, FAWE Benin continues to roll out the initiative across additional centres between 3–16 March 2026.

This expansion represents a significant step toward institutionalizing youth-led platforms within vocational education settings—spaces that are often overlooked in traditional empowerment programmes.

The 3M Project is implemented by Global Affairs Canada through its presence in Benin, in partnership with FAWE Benin and RENEJ Benin, with support from the Embassy of Canada in Benin and Education International.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to empowering girls and young women through education, leadership development, and community engagement.

Through the expansion of TUSEME Clubs, FAWE Benin is nurturing a generation of confident, self-aware, and empowered young people who are equipped to speak out, lead, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

As the initiative continues to grow, it reinforces FAWE’s vision of education systems that not only impart knowledge, but also cultivate voice, agency, and leadership among all learners.
