Strengthening Partnerships for Girls’ Education in Burkina Faso

FAWE Burkina Faso Engages the Embassy of Belgium to Advance Strategic Collaboration

On 5 March 2026, the Forum for African Women Educationalists national chapter in Burkina Faso—FAWE Burkina Faso—held a strategic meeting with the Head of Cooperation at the Embassy of Belgium in Burkina Faso.

The meeting, supported by the FAWE focal point within the Ministry in charge of Agriculture, marked an important step toward strengthening partnerships aimed at expanding education and empowerment opportunities for girls and young women across Burkina Faso.

The discussions focused on identifying concrete avenues for the Embassy of Belgium’s engagement in the implementation of FAWE Burkina’s ongoing programmes. This dialogue reflects a shared commitment to fostering inclusive, sustainable, and gender-responsive education systems that empower girls to thrive.

Through this exchange, FAWE Burkina Faso was able to gain valuable insights into the Belgian Embassy’s cooperation priorities, strategic focus areas, and approaches to development programming. These insights will contribute to refining FAWE Burkina’s strategic positioning and enhancing alignment with key partners.

A central outcome of the meeting was the identification of potential areas for collaboration, particularly in resource mobilization and programme alignment. By strengthening synergies between FAWE Burkina Faso and the Embassy of Belgium, both parties aim to maximize impact and ensure that interventions are responsive to national priorities and the needs of girls and young women.

The engagement also highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration, including the role of ministries and institutional stakeholders in supporting integrated and sustainable solutions for girls’ education.

Both FAWE Burkina Faso and the Embassy of Belgium expressed strong interest in continuing this collaboration, with follow-up meetings planned to further explore partnership opportunities and define concrete areas of joint action.

This ongoing dialogue signals a promising pathway toward enhanced cooperation, innovation, and long-term impact in advancing girls’ education and empowerment.

FAWE Africa commends FAWE Burkina Faso for its proactive efforts in building strategic partnerships that strengthen the sustainability and reach of its programmes.

The organization also extends its sincere appreciation to the Embassy of Belgium team and the FAWE focal point within the Ministry of Agriculture for their engagement, support, and shared vision for advancing girls’ education in Burkina Faso.

As FAWE continues to work across the continent, such partnerships remain essential to driving transformative change and ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to learn, lead, and succeed.
