Strengthening Capacity for Impact: FAWE Tanzania Invests in Staff Development to Advance Child-Centred Programming

FAWE Tanzania (FAWETZ) continues to reinforce its commitment to delivering high-quality, accountable, and child-centred programmes through targeted investment in staff capacity development. Recently, FAWETZ staff successfully participated in an intensive capacity-building programme designed to strengthen both institutional systems and individual competencies essential for advancing girls’ education and protection.

This comprehensive training focused on critical thematic areas, including Child Protection and Safeguarding, Project Management, Financial Management, and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E). These core pillars are fundamental to ensuring that FAWE Tanzania’s programmes are not only impactful but also responsive, transparent, and aligned with international standards of child safety and programme accountability.

Advancing Safeguarding and Child Protection Standards

A central component of the training was strengthening staff understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles. FAWETZ staff engaged in in-depth discussions on how to identify, prevent, and respond to potential risks affecting children and young people within programme environments.

By reinforcing safeguarding practices, FAWETZ is ensuring that its programmes provide safe, supportive spaces where girls and boys can learn, grow, and thrive without fear of harm or exploitation. Strengthening these systems is essential to protecting learners’ wellbeing and maintaining trust with communities and partners.

Enhancing Programme Quality and Accountability

The training also focused on strengthening project management and financial management skills, equipping staff with tools to plan, implement, and monitor programmes effectively. Participants enhanced their capacity to manage resources responsibly, ensure financial transparency, and align programme activities with strategic objectives.

Monitoring and Evaluation sessions provided practical guidance on results-based approaches, enabling staff to better track programme outcomes, assess impact, and use data to inform decision-making. Strengthened M&E systems support continuous learning, programme improvement, and evidence-based advocacy.

Through interactive sessions, case studies, and practical exercises, FAWETZ staff gained valuable insights into how integrated management systems contribute to sustainable programme success and improved outcomes for learners.

Investing in Excellence to Advance Girls’ Education

This capacity-building initiative reflects FAWETZ’s broader commitment to institutional strengthening and programme excellence. By investing in staff development, FAWE Tanzania is ensuring that its team remains well equipped to design and deliver interventions that empower girls, protect children, and strengthen education systems.

Strong institutional capacity is essential to advancing FAWE’s mission across Africa. Equipped with enhanced skills and knowledge, FAWETZ staff are better positioned to support girls’ education, promote gender equality, and deliver programmes that create lasting impact.

As FAWE Tanzania continues its work, this investment in people and systems reinforces a clear commitment: to uphold the highest standards of child protection, transparency, and programme quality while advancing safe, inclusive, and empowering education for all learners.
