Regional Teacher Initiative in Africa
FAWE is partnering with VVOB – Education for Development under the Regional Teachers Initiative for Africa (RTIA), a programme implemented in collaboration with the African Union, Team Europe partners (Belgium, Finland, and France), and UNESCO. The initiative aims to strengthen the teacher workforce and improve learning outcomes, as well as the socio-emotional development of learners across Africa.
Through this collaboration, FAWE is supporting the scaling of Gender-Responsive Pedagogy (GRP) within the continent as part of Teacher Professional Development (TPD), equipping teachers with skills to deliver inclusive and gender-equitable education.
Objectives:
The programme seeks to:
I. Build and strengthen partnerships and alliances to scale Teacher Professional Development (TPD) initiatives on Gender-Transformative and Gender-Responsive Pedagogy (GTP/GRP).
II. Foster collaboration, regional exchange, and peer learning across education networks.
III. Raise awareness, deepen stakeholder understanding, and strengthen support to influence policy on gender and education.
IV. Promote the adoption and scaling of gender-responsive teaching practices.
V. Disseminate evidence and learning to inform advocacy and drive education reforms.
