Accelerator for Shifting Gender Norms

The Accelerator for Shifting Gender Norms through Education is a collaborative initiative aimed at strengthening and scaling evidence-based approaches that transform harmful gender norms during adolescence through education systems.

The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) is part of this global collaboration, contributing its extensive experience in advancing girls’ education and gender equality across Africa.

The Accelerator brings together organizations with a proven track record in designing and implementing impactful programmes that address harmful gender stereotypes, attitudes, and social norms affecting learners, particularly girls, within school environments.

Through this collaboration, partners work collectively to:

Establish a Learning-by-Doing Hub
Create a platform that convenes selected implementing organizations working within public school systems to test, refine, and scale interventions that shift harmful gender norms.

Deepen Programming and Generate Public Goods

Strengthen programme design and delivery through shared learning and collaboration. The Accelerator also develops and disseminates public goods including curricula, learning content, teacher training materials, and advocacy briefs to influence policy and practice in advancing gender equality in education.

Design and Test Measurement Frameworks

Develop and pilot common metrics and assessment tools to measure changes in gender norms, contributing to stronger evidence generation and improved accountability across the sector.

Build a Movement for Gender Norm Transformation
Position the Accelerator as a leading resource and community of practice for governments, funders, and civil society organizations committed to advancing gender-transformative education for adolescents.
