Developed through a strong continental collaboration, this report brings together key partners including the Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report team, the African Centre for School Leadership, VVOB, the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA), Education Sub-Saharan Africa (ESSA), the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE), and the African Union.
Why this report matters
Across Sub-Saharan Africa, millions of children are still unable to complete basic education or acquire foundational literacy and numeracy skills. This report highlights the critical role of leadership in education systems to drive improvements in learning outcomes and ensure that no child is left behind.
It emphasizes that strengthening school leadership, governance, and accountability systems is essential to advancing equitable and quality education, particularly for girls and marginalized learners.
