Par l'\u00e9quipe du FAWE \u00c9thiopie<\/strong><\/p>\n

Beamlak est une jeune fille de 20 ans qui vit dans l'\u00c9tat r\u00e9gional d'Amhara, dans la ville de Bahirdar, et qui est l'une des b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires du programme FAWE de la Mastercard Foundation. Elle fait partie de la cinqui\u00e8me cohorte de boursiers et poursuit ses \u00e9tudes \u00e0 Tana Haik, l'une des \u00e9coles partenaires.<\/p>\n

Avant de rejoindre le programme de bourses d'\u00e9tudes du FAWE-Ethiopia Mastercard, elle avait l'habitude de pr\u00e9parer et de vendre des produits alimentaires. Kollo <\/em>(grains grill\u00e9s) et Kita<\/em> (sorte de cr\u00eape cuite) dans les d\u00e9bits de boisson locaux. Pour pr\u00e9parer ces en-cas, elle se plie en quatre pendant de longues heures et parcourt de longues distances pour les vendre. En vendant Kollo<\/em> et Kita<\/em> elle a subvenu \u00e0 ses besoins jusqu'\u00e0 la 8e ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Elle souffre d'une maladie scientifiquement connue sous le nom de bombement discal sym\u00e9trique L4, 5, qui provoque une st\u00e9nose mod\u00e9r\u00e9e bilat\u00e9rale du foramen neural et une st\u00e9nose l\u00e9g\u00e8re du canal rachidien. Ses examens m\u00e9dicaux ont r\u00e9cemment montr\u00e9 que son activit\u00e9 r\u00e9mun\u00e9ratrice ant\u00e9rieure l'avait expos\u00e9e \u00e0 la maladie. Avant que son cas ne soit identifi\u00e9, elle avait subi des tests dans diff\u00e9rentes cliniques de Bahirdar (tests de paludisme, orthop\u00e9die) et diff\u00e9rents m\u00e9dicaments lui avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 prescrits et administr\u00e9s, mais sans r\u00e9sultat. Elle a m\u00eame essay\u00e9 la physioth\u00e9rapie \u00e0 l'h\u00f4pital Felege Hiwot, un h\u00f4pital public, pendant 12 jours. Son \u00e9tat s'est aggrav\u00e9 avec le temps et elle a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de demander l'intervention divine en essayant l'eau b\u00e9nite \u00e0 l'ext\u00e9rieur de la ville de Bahirdar. Elle est rest\u00e9e sur place pendant 15 jours, mais cela n'a pas fonctionn\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Elle est retourn\u00e9e \u00e0 Bahirdar depuis le lieu de l'eau b\u00e9nite, toujours en proie \u00e0 la douleur, et a essay\u00e9 une autre clinique. Le m\u00e9decin insiste pour qu'elle passe une IRM dont les r\u00e9sultats montrent qu'elle souffre d'un renflement sym\u00e9trique du disque L4, 5. Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 plac\u00e9e sous traitement pendant un mois et on lui a demand\u00e9 de revenir \u00e0 la clinique apr\u00e8s un mois.<\/p>\n

Beamlak a \u00e9puis\u00e9 toutes ses ressources financi\u00e8res pour les examens m\u00e9dicaux et les m\u00e9dicaments, et a \u00e9galement d\u00e9pens\u00e9 tout l'argent de l'aide au logement fournie par le programme de bourses de la Mastercard Foundation. Elle \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s inqui\u00e8te de savoir comment survivre dans les mois \u00e0 venir. \u201cOutre l'insuffisance financi\u00e8re \u00e0 laquelle j'\u00e9tais confront\u00e9e, j'\u00e9tais tr\u00e8s stress\u00e9e et je me demandais o\u00f9 trouver de l'aide pour survivre<\/em>.\u201d Bien qu'elle ait b\u00e9n\u00e9fici\u00e9 d'une assurance m\u00e9dicale de 1000,00 ETB pour chaque boursier, ses d\u00e9penses \u00e9taient bien plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es que le budget allou\u00e9 \u00e0 l'assurance m\u00e9dicale. Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 oblig\u00e9e d'emprunter pour compl\u00e9ter l'argent de l'aide au logement qu'elle recevait dans le cadre du programme. Pour qu'elle puisse couvrir les frais m\u00e9dicaux encourus, la Mastercard Foundation, en collaboration avec le FAWE, a pr\u00e9vu de soutenir les boursiers par le biais d'une intervention de r\u00e9ponse Covid-19. \u201cJe b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d'une aide pour le montant restant pendant la pand\u00e9mie de COVID-19.<\/em>.\u201d Elle ajoute.<\/p>\n

Aujourd'hui, elle est en bonne sant\u00e9 et a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que si elle n'\u00e9tait pas b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaire du programme de bourses d'\u00e9tudes de Mastercard, il lui serait difficile de se payer un traitement m\u00e9dical.
