Culturellement, les enfants burundais se voyaient attribuer un mentor qui les guidait jusqu'\u00e0 ce qu'ils atteignent la maturit\u00e9 sexuelle avant le mariage. Ce r\u00f4le de mentor repose sur les p\u00e8res pour les gar\u00e7ons et les tantes paternelles pour les filles.<\/p>\n<p>Le projet de mentorat intitul\u00e9 \u201cInstitutionnalisation de la personne de la tante et du p\u00e8re dans les \u00e9coles comme strat\u00e9gie d'\u00e9radication des violences sexuelles et des grossesses pr\u00e9coces dans les \u00e9coles\u201d a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 pour aider \u00e0 mettre un terme aux violences sexuelles et aux grossesses pr\u00e9coces qui entravent l'\u00e9ducation de la jeune fille burundaise. Le projet prend cependant un angle diff\u00e9rent du syst\u00e8me traditionnel en ce sens que les tantes et les p\u00e8res d'\u00e9cole sont choisis parmi leurs enseignants ou superviseurs par les \u00e9l\u00e8ves eux-m\u00eames.<\/p>\n<p>Depuis son lancement en 2013, le projet a \u00e9t\u00e9 mis en \u0153uvre dans 121 \u00e9coles \u00e0 Busoni, Butihinda, Gitega, Rumonge, Muramvya, Giheta, Mutaho, Makebuko, Bukirasazi, Bugendana et Ryansoro - des r\u00e9gions qui avaient connu des taux \u00e9lev\u00e9s de grossesses pr\u00e9coces. En 2018 et 2019, le FAWE Burundi a form\u00e9 12 tantes et p\u00e8res d'\u00e9l\u00e8ves qui ont ensuite form\u00e9 d'autres nouveaux mentors.  Actuellement, le module de formation r\u00e9vis\u00e9 a d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9 pour former 120 nouveaux tantes et p\u00e8res d'\u00e9cole, 114 repr\u00e9sentants des comit\u00e9s de protection de l'enfance et 3 travailleurs sociaux qui soutiendront les tantes et p\u00e8res d'\u00e9cole dans le cadre du projet.<\/p>\n<p>Les \u00e9tapes de ce projet sont toujours en cours.
