The audit, conducted by an independent team of experts, assessed FAWE’s financial practices, operational processes, and program implementation across its regional and national chapters. By evaluating these key areas, the audit aimed to identify strengths, address gaps, and reinforce best practices that align with FAWE’s mission to promote gender equity and girls’ education in Africa.
Transparency and accountability are at the heart of FAWE’s operations. The 2024 institutional audit is a reflection of the organization’s dedication to maintaining the trust of its stakeholders, including donors, partners, governments, and the communities it serves. By adhering to the highest standards of integrity, FAWE continues to demonstrate its commitment to making a meaningful and sustainable impact in the lives of girls and women across the continent.
The audit also underscored FAWE’s focus on good management practices as the organization expands its programs and initiatives, ensuring efficient resource allocation and effective leadership remains a top priority. “This year’s institutional audit was unique because we had an interim audit for the months of January to September 2024 and the final audit taking place for October to December 2024. We piloted this plan and as a result, we were able to complete the audit in a record two weeks. I must say that this audit process has been the most seamless ever.” Said Mr. Richard Chelagat, FAWE’s Finance and Administration Director.
FAWE operates in a dynamic and complex environment, requiring adherence to both internal policies and external regulations. The audit ensured that FAWE remained aligned with legal and ethical standards, safeguarding its reputation and reinforcing its position as a leader in the fight for gender equality in education.
The FAWE Regional Secretariat views the 2024 institutional audit as an opportunity for growth and improvement. By embracing a culture of continuous learning and adaptation, FAWE is better equipped to navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and drive transformative change in the education sector. The organization looks forward to sharing the outcomes of the audit and using the insights gained to further its mission of empowering girls and women through education.
