On 18th to 21st November 2024 all roads led to Mombasa Kenya for the FAWE specific Break Free! (BF!) Programme Annual Planning and Review Meeting (APRM). Every year, the FAWE National Chapters that implement the BF! Programme convene for the development of the annual workplans, results framework, lobby and advocacy plans and sustainability plans. It is during the APRM that approvals for budgets and workplans for the following year, reflection on what worked, and discussions on a strategic path toward achieving the programme commitments take center stage. The participating chapters included FAWE Kenya, FAWE Zambia, FAWE Mali, FAWE Mozambique, FAWE Malawi, FAWE Burkina Faso and FAWE Ethiopia.
Stepping into its final year of implementation, the BF! Programme’s focus for 2025 will be a keen eye on implementation with regards to the programme’s Theory of Change, and a stock check of FAWE’s contribution to the consortium.
The country teams developed power point presentations based on the 4-day program. Group discussions, group presentations, experience sharing, scenarios, video and audio were incorporated in the meeting.
The insights gained from the APRM will serve as a foundation for the programme’s initiatives. As FAWE steps into the final leg of the programme, it remains steadfast in its mission to create a world where every girl has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
