It was an honour for Dr. Emebet Mulugeta, Honorary Secretary of FAWE Africa, and Dr. Martha Muhwezi, Executive Director of FAWE Africa, to meet with H.E. Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and former Chairperson of FAWE Africa. Their meeting centred on a shared and enduring mission: advancing women and girls\u2019 empowerment across the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conversation was more than a courtesy call; it was a strategic reaffirmation of a collective vision. At FAWE Africa, the belief was firm and foundational\u2014that investing in a girl was not only an investment in one individual. It was an investment in her family, her community, her country and Africa\u2019s future. This conviction guided every exchange and underscored every point of discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dialogue powerfully reaffirmed that access to education alone was not enough. Girls had to be able to enrol, remain in school, and complete their education. They had to transition successfully to higher education, skills development and decent work. And ultimately, they had to thrive as leaders, innovators and economic actors. This was the full journey, and it required unwavering support at every stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To achieve this, the leaders agreed that sustained investment was essential in several critical areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Quality, inclusive and gender-responsive education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Skills, innovation, entrepreneurship and digital opportunities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leadership, agency and meaningful participation in decision-making<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Policies and environments that removed systemic barriers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong partnerships across governments, civil society, development partners and the private sector<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The message was resolute: women and girls must not only be beneficiaries of Africa\u2019s development\u2014they must be architects and leaders of it. The meeting served as a powerful reminder that when leaders united around a common cause, the path to transformative change became clearer and more attainable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the discussion concluded, attention turned to the future. At the 4th FAWE International Conference on Girls\u2019 Education in Africa, practical pathways to transform education systems would be explored. These pathways included gender-transformative financing, youth leadership, innovation and technology, partnerships and accountability. Because when we financed her education, we invested in Africa\u2019s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Invest in Her Future.
