NAIROBI, Kenya \u2013 On 5 August, the FAWE Regional Secretariat welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network for a courtesy visit that underscored the power of strategic partnerships in advancing girls’ education and women’s leadership across the continent. The meeting, which brought together FAWE’s Deputy Executive Director and Head of Programmes, Ms. Teresa Omondi-Adeitan, and YAWC’s Global President, Dr. Stephanie Wirba, alongside Josephine, President of the YAWC Centre, represented a significant moment in the ongoing collaboration between two of Africa’s most influential women’s organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The courtesy visit provided an invaluable opportunity for the two organisations to share experiences, celebrate existing partnerships, and explore new avenues for collaboration. FAWE’s long-standing partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, which has expanded access to post-secondary education for an estimated 1.2 million young women, demonstrated the transformative power of strategic alliances in creating continent-wide impact . A highlight of the meeting was the celebration of the existing Memorandum of Understanding between YAWC and FAWE Rwanda. Alliance had strengthened youth sexual and reproductive health and rights across nine countries, contributing to the fight against child marriage and teenage pregnancy. The meeting with YAWC represented another step in FAWE’s strategic approach to partnership building.
