Over the past two weeks, the FAWE Regional Secretariat (RS) has worked alongside the FAWE Liberia Chapter to strengthen institutional readiness and operational capacity for implementation of the FAWE\u2013Mastercard Foundation Phase II Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A significant milestone was the support provided to the recruitment of three key positions \u2014 Finance Manager, Programme Coordinator, and Communications & Advocacy Officer. These positions are critical to establishing the human resource capacity required to deliver the Phase II programme effectively and sustainably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Regional Secretariat team \u2014 Beatrice Muiyuro, Senior Finance Manager; Grace Wambua, Senior Human Resource Officer; and Emily Gumba, Senior Programmes Manager \u2014 provided technical support across finance, human resources and programme implementation. The team also assessed the Chapter\u2019s readiness for student recruitment, reviewed institutional systems and documentation, and worked with the Chapter to strengthen its Action Plan and overall implementation readiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A key highlight was a strategic courtesy call to the Office of the Second Lady of the Republic of Liberia. The engagement underscored the importance of institutional anchorage, national ownership and alignment with national priorities in advancing girls\u2019 education, skills development and equitable access to learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission is also providing an opportunity for practical capacity strengthening. Financial mentorship was provided to the Programmes Accountant to strengthen financial management and stewardship of programme resources, and the programme staff and field staff on sensitization and community engagement to ensure the hard-to-reach and marginalised youth apply for the bursary.

Beyond recruitment and technical support, the mission on week 3 will focus on exchange learning from FAWE Uganda , institutional strengthening, programme readiness, accountability, safeguarding and inclusion as the new staff is been trained and inducted. These efforts are particularly important as FAWE Liberia prepares to advance student recruitment and move into full implementation of Phase II.<\/p>\n\n
