More than a capacity-building exercise, the training reinforced FAWE&#8217;s core values of dignity, respect, accountability, and zero tolerance for all forms of abuse, exploitation, and harm. It reflected the organization&#8217;s belief that safe learning and working environments are fundamental to achieving equitable and transformative education across Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Facilitated by FAWE Africa&#8217;s dedicated <strong>Safeguarding Officer, Mr. Crispus Natala<\/strong>, the induction equipped staff with the knowledge and practical skills needed to identify safeguarding risks, prevent harm, and respond appropriately to concerns. Through engaging presentations, practical exercises, and real-life case studies, participants strengthened their understanding of safeguarding principles and their individual responsibilities in creating a culture where everyone feels safe, respected, and protected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The training also provided a comprehensive overview of internationally recognized safeguarding standards, including the <strong>United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)<\/strong> and the <strong>Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) Framework<\/strong>. Staff explored how these global standards align with FAWE&#8217;s safeguarding policies and operational procedures, ensuring that protection remains embedded across programmes, partnerships, and organizational systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Throughout the three days, participants actively engaged in discussions on ethical conduct, survivor-centred approaches, confidential reporting mechanisms, and the importance of early identification and mitigation of safeguarding risks. The collaborative learning environment encouraged staff to reflect on real-world scenarios, strengthen professional judgement, and reaffirm their shared responsibility to uphold the highest standards of integrity in every interaction with beneficiaries, colleagues, and partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The induction concluded with a renewed institutional commitment to making safeguarding everyone&#8217;s responsibility. By investing in staff capacity and strengthening internal systems, FAWE continued to foster an organizational culture where accountability, prevention, and protection are integral to programme delivery.
