DAKAR, Senegal \u2013 From 20 to 21 May, FAWE Senegal successfully convened its Triennial General Assembly and Board Induction, marking a pivotal new chapter in the institutional strengthening and revitalization of the chapter. The landmark gathering brought together FAWE leadership, government representatives, partners, and members to review progress, strengthen governance structures, validate key institutional reforms, and elect a new Board to guide the next phase of FAWE Senegal\u2019s strategic direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was honored by the presence of Anna Sow, Coordinator of the Gender and Equity Unit, representing the Ministry of National Education, and Rokhaya Diakhat\u00e9, Director of Family Affairs, representing the Ministry of Family Affairs. Their participation reflected the strong commitment of the Government of Senegal to continue working alongside FAWE Senegal in advancing gender-equitable and inclusive education systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representing FAWE Africa, Executive Director Dr. Martha R. L. Muhwezi, accompanied by Senior Communication Officer Kossi Tsenou and staff of the West and Central Africa Sub-Regional Office (FAWE RS\/WASRO), emphasized the importance of strong institutions, visionary leadership, and sustainable partnerships in shaping the future of education on the continent. \u201cThe future of our continent will depend largely on whether we are able to equip our young people with quality education, skills, confidence, leadership, and opportunities to thrive in a rapidly changing world,\u201d Dr. Muhwezi stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussions throughout the day reaffirmed the importance of governance, sustainability, collaboration, and African-led solutions in advancing opportunities for girls and young women. They also reinforced FAWE Senegal\u2019s strategic role within the broader continental movement for transformative education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FAWE Africa and FAWE Senegal warmly congratulated Mme Khadidiatou Sow on her election as the new Chairperson of FAWE Senegal, alongside the newly elected Board members who officially began their induction following the General Assembly. As FAWE Senegal enters this new phase, the renewed leadership and strengthened institutional direction have positioned the chapter to deepen its impact, strengthen partnerships, and continue championing education as a driver of equality, dignity, and national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the days that followed, courtesy visits were paid to key institutional and technical partners. FAWE Africa and FAWE Senegal visited the Directorate General of Vocational and Technical Training (DGFPT) under the Ministry of Employment and Vocational and Technical Training in Diamniadio, where the meeting with Mr. Mamadou Gueye, Director General of DGFPT, provided an opportunity to review progress under the FAWE\/Mastercard Foundation Phase II Programme and discuss strategic priorities around TVET, skills development, and pathways to employment. The delegation also met with Mr. Papa Malick Ndao, Secretary General of the Ministry of National Education, to reaffirm shared commitments to expanding inclusive and equitable education opportunities. Further engagements included a productive meeting with the CLE Programme in Dakar, where FAWE and CLE delegations reflected on ongoing collaboration across Senegal, Togo, Benin, Rwanda, and Guinea on girls\u2019 leadership, Gender Responsive Pedagogy (GRP), Tuseme, and inclusive education approaches. Additionally, FAWE Africa and FAWE Senegal held a strategic discussion with Nutrition International, led by Dr. Banda Ndiaye and Dr. Papa Birane Mbodji, to explore integrated approaches connecting education, health, nutrition, and youth empowerment, with possibilities for collaboration beyond Senegal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
