The event unveiled two major initiatives: the FAWE\/Mastercard Foundation Phase II Program and FAWEZI\u2019s 2024\u20132028 Strategic Plan.<\/p>\n<p>The high-level gathering brought together national policymakers, academic leaders, civil society representatives, development partners, and delegates from nine other FAWE chapters across Africa. At the heart of the event was the official rollout of the seven-year Phase II Program, titled <em>Second Chance Pathways for Increased Access to Tertiary Education for Marginalised Young Women and Men<\/em>. The program targets over 10,000 young people across 10 countries, including Zimbabwe, and prioritizes those from underserved backgrounds\u2014conflict-affected regions, climate-impacted communities, refugees, and persons with disabilities. The initiative introduces inclusive learning pathways such as the Higher Education Access Certificate and Higher Education Access Program, with a focus on increasing participation in tertiary education.<\/p>\n<p>FAWEZI also launched its new Strategic Plan, outlining efforts to eliminate gender disparities, promote STEM and STEAM, expand access to technical and vocational education, and strengthen institutional partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>Distinguished speakers, including Hon. Ambassador Dr. Fredrick Shava and Hon. Dr. Torerayi Moyo, delivered keynote addresses alongside regional and national education leaders.
