Press statement<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lusaka, Zambia\u2014January 2025: The Forum for African Women Educationalists of Zambia (FAWEZA) is pleased to announce the 200 successful candidates for the technical education, vocational, and entrepreneurship training (TEVET) full bursaries under the Mastercard Foundation bursary program for the 2024\/2025 academic year, following a highly competitive selection process. This program aims to promote equitable access to quality education, particularly for vulnerable young women, men, people with disabilities, and refugees in Zambia.<\/p>\n

Among the recipients, 160 are young women, and 40 are young men, all of whom will be pursuing STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) courses at various selected tertiary institutions across the country.<\/p>\n

As an organization, the program not only addresses the financial barriers to education but also challenges gender stereotypes in STEM fields. By supporting the vulnerable 160 young women and 40 young men, we are paving the way for a diverse and inclusive workforce equipped to drive Zambia\u2019s development agenda.<\/p>\n

The Mastercard Foundation Bursary program is a vital step towards empowering Zambia\u2019s youth by providing opportunities to those who may not otherwise afford technical education. By focusing on STEM disciplines, this initiative seeks to nurture innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among young people, contributing to national and global sustainable development goals.<\/p>\n

FAWEZA will fully support these students throughout their academic journey, ensuring they receive the mentorship and resources necessary for success. We are confident that with hard work and dedication, the youths will make a lasting impact in your respective fields and communities.<\/p>\n

FAWEZA extends heartfelt gratitude to the Mastercard Foundation, through the Forum for African Women Educationalists regional office, for its unwavering support and partnership in transforming education and livelihoods for vulnerable young people.<\/p>\n

The list of all successful participants has been published in the Friday, 3rd January 2025 edition of the Zambia Daily Mail newspaper and will also appear in the Monday, 6th January 2025 edition of the Times of Zambia.<\/p>\n
