{"id":38526,"date":"2023-03-21T15:33:23","date_gmt":"2023-03-21T12:33:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fawe.org\/?p=38526"},"modified":"2023-03-21T15:33:23","modified_gmt":"2023-03-21T12:33:23","slug":"from-agony-to-success-my-academic-journey-the-story-of-cleophus-komujuni","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fawe.org\/en\/from-agony-to-success-my-academic-journey-the-story-of-cleophus-komujuni\/","title":{"rendered":"From agony to success, my academic journey &#8211; the story of Cleophus Komujuni"},"content":{"rendered":"<table width=\"864\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"162\">\n<table width=\"864\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"162\">I completed my A \u2018level in 2017 with 9 points in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics(BCM) after receiving my results my hopes of joining higher education were all shattered because I failed to raise the points to go on government merit coming from a humble background my dad could not raise that tuition, however, with the support from FAWE Uganda my academic dream has been realized have managed to renovate our old house, constructed a one door commercial house with electricity, have started a mobile money service project at home to increase our savings, paid tuition for my young brother at Kyambogo University and a young girl from my village fees who is now in primary seven.<\/p>\n<table width=\"864\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"162\">\n<table width=\"864\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"162\">FAWE Uganda with support from the Mastercard foundation is implementing the Higher Education Access Program (HEAP). The program aims at enabling 300 (70% female and 30% male) academically talented yet economically disadvantaged students from 13 selected disadvantaged districts of Bukwo, Mayuge, Buyende, Katakwii, Amudat, Kaabong, Pader, Amuru, Adjumani, Kanungu, Bundibugyo, Ntoroko and Bullisa districts to access and complete higher education.<\/p>\n<p>The Program is being implemented in partnership with 5 partner learning institutions of Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Gulu and Busitema universities, Medical Laboratory training school Jinja and Jinja School of Nursing and Midwifery.<\/p>\n<p>The Program beneficiaries undergo an extended orientation programme to prepare them for leadership roles at the university, equipped with financial literacy skills and pyscho-social support to enable them settle well at the learning institutions.
