{"id":18956,"date":"2020-09-30T12:10:34","date_gmt":"2020-09-30T09:10:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fawe.org\/?p=18956"},"modified":"2020-09-30T12:10:34","modified_gmt":"2020-09-30T09:10:34","slug":"fawes-2nd-international-girls-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fawe.org\/en\/fawes-2nd-international-girls-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"FAWE&#8217;S 2nd International Girls Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FAWE will hold its 2<sup>nd<\/sup> International Girls Conference virtually on <strong>Wednesday 18<sup>th<\/sup> November 2020 from 14.00hrs EAT<\/strong> with a key note address from Dr. Jane Nambakire Mulemwa, Chairperson, the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU). The key note address will kick of the meeting by highlighting key issues to be given priority for girls\u2019 education in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The first FAWE\u2019s International Conference on Girls\u2019 Education in Africa was held in Lusaka, Zambia in 2017. The event was borne out of the conviction that for over two and half decades, FAWE had made significant contributions and changes in the education sector in Africa yet FAWE did not have a structured and international driven platform to reflect on her work as well as the work for other likeminded partners. The event provided an opportunity to celebrate FAWE successes and outline strategies on scaling up of the organization\u2019s interventions.<\/p>\n<p>FAWE has now organized the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Conference themed <strong><em>\u201cTowards Effective Approaches for girls\u2019 engagement and excellence: Preparing African girls for the 21st century skills\u201d. <\/em><\/strong>This conference will focus on FAWE\u2019s and other partners interventions on Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for girls in Africa.
