In celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Kenya Chapter was thrilled to participate in a transformative Tuseme Club Engagement at Theta Secondary School. This event brought together students from Rurii Secondary School in Murang’a County and Theta Secondary School in Kiambu County for a dynamic cross-county learning session focused on empowerment, leadership, and life skills.
The engagement was a powerful reminder of the importance of investing in young people and equipping them with the tools they need to become leaders and changemakers in their communities. True to the spirit of empowerment, the event was collaboratively planned and resourced by students, patrons, and school principals, showcasing the power of collective action.
A Platform for Empowerment and Collaboration
The Tuseme Club Engagement provided a safe and inclusive space for students to share ideas, learn from one another, and grow as individuals. The session was designed to inspire and empower young people, particularly girls, to overcome challenges and pursue their dreams.
Key highlights of the event included:
1. Showcasing School and Community Initiatives
Students from both schools presented their innovative projects and initiatives aimed at driving positive change in their schools and communities. From environmental conservation efforts to peer mentorship programs, the presentations highlighted the creativity and leadership potential of the young participants.
2. Peer-to-Peer Discussions
One of the most impactful aspects of the engagement was the opportunity for students to engage in open and honest discussions about the challenges they face, both personally and academically. Through peer-to-peer dialogue, they shared strategies for overcoming obstacles, building resilience, and staying focused on their goals.
The Spirit of International Women’s Day 2025
As we mark International Women’s Day 2025 under the theme of collective action for gender equality, this engagement serves as a testament to the power of collaboration in shaping a more equitable and inclusive future. By bringing together students from different counties, FAWE Kenya fostered a sense of unity and shared purpose, demonstrating that when we work together, we can achieve extraordinary things.
The event also aligned with FAWE’s broader mission to #Educate2Elevate, ensuring that every young person, regardless of gender, has access to quality education and the opportunity to thrive. Through initiatives like the Tuseme Club, FAWE Kenya is empowering the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
The success of this engagement is a reminder that empowering young people is not just a responsibility but an investment in the future. As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025, let us recommit to supporting initiatives that promote education, leadership, and life skills for young people, particularly girls.
FAWE Kenya extends its gratitude to the students, patrons, and school principals who made this event possible. Your dedication and enthusiasm are an inspiration to us all. Together, we can continue to break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create a world where every young person has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
