WTD 2015 - FAWEToday, 5th October, World Teachers’ Day, as the global community comes together to support the new 2030 UN Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), FAWE and its network, would like to highlight the crucial role teachers play in achieving the SDGs.

The new global education goal, SDG 4, which is at the heart of the Education 2030 Agenda, calls for inclusive and equitable quality education and the promotion of lifelong learning opportunities for all. Realizing this goal is critical to achieving all our global development targets for strong societies depend on well-educated citizens and a well-trained workforce.

To realize this agenda we need to recruit quality teachers, support and empower them as key actors. We also have to provide them quality conditions through decent working conditions, safe and healthy working environments, trust, professional autonomy.

We take this opportunity to call the Governments to redouble efforts in engaging dialogue with teachers and increase efforts in providing more support to teachers in every school and within the community as well. Happy Teachers’ Day!
