Interview: Anda Adams - “Refocus the global education agenda”
Anda Adams, Associate Director of the Center for Universal Education, Brookings Institution
EE: The Center for Universal Education recently published the Global Compact on Learning report. What were the research objectives and findings?
Anda Adams: A Global Compact on Learning: Taking Acting on Education in Developing Countries (June 2011) seeks to refocus the global education agenda by setting three priorities that, based on a careful review of the evidence, can improve learning opportunities and outcomes in the least advantaged regions.
It calls on different stakeholders to work within their spheres of influence to ensure that young children get an early start on learning in life, school-age children acquire basic literacy and numeracy skills in primary school, and youth transition to adulthood with the knowledge and capabilities they need for their lives and livelihoods.
