41st FAWE EC Meeting

From the 2nd to the 3rd of September 2010, the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) held its 41st Executive Committee (EC) meeting at the Laico Regency Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.

EC 41st meetingFAWE’s EC meeting is held twice a year; one at the middle of the year and the other at the beginning of the subsequent year. The main purpose of the meeting is to review work progress, discuss issues, make recommendations, and talk about organizational effectiveness.

This year, 10 Executive Committee members attended the meeting, namely the Chair person Hon. Simone de Comarmond, Madam Vice Chair Mrs. Aicha Bah Diallo c/o UNESCO, and executive members Hon. Rosalie Kama Niamayoua, Mme Samassekou Kankou Traore, Hon. Paulette Missambo, Prof. Monica Mweseli, Hon. Becky Ndjoze-Oje, Prof. Mary Okwakol, Mme Fatou Sarr Sow, and Dr Esi Sutherland. The  FAWE Regional Office was represented by Dr. Codou Diaw, who is FAWE’s Executive Director, and also by the Secretary to the Executive Committee, Ms. Hendrina Doroba, Senior Programme Officer and Ms. Rissa Sant’Anna, the  Finance and Operation Officer.

Before embarking on the 41st agenda, the EC agreed on following the minutes of the 40th EC Meeting held in February 2010 in Uganda. The progress of the Implementation Report on FAWE’s 2010 Work Programme was presented and discussed, along with the 2010 Financial Report. Internal matters for the improvement of the organization were also covered and approved, and finally FAWE’s 2009 Annual Report was presented.

In conclusion, FAWE members were proud of their realization that the organization was on a good track, that recommendations from the last meeting had been taken into consideration and that the 2010 program implementation was in good progress. The FAWE family and its partners had a dinner party to close its 41st EC meeting.
