FAWE’s Executive Director Dr Codou Diaw will join participants in the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting actively investing in girls’ education, health and social development to share strategies and identify new investments that need to be made to further enhance life chances for girls.
Participating in the Action Network Workshops in investing in girls, Dr Diaw will engage in discussions with like-minded partners on ways of providing greater opportunities to girls who are particularly affected by lack of access to primary education; physical, sexual and other forms of abuse; and HIV/AIDS. In sub-Saharan Africa, 54 percent of the 35 million out-of-school children of primary school age are girls , while 75 percent of HIV-infected youth are female .
Dr Diaw also participated in the NGO Executive Workshop prior to the official opening of the CGI Annual Meeting on 22 September through which NGO executives discussed how they can utilise information technology as a mission-delivery tool.
