FAWE Contributes to 2010 UNGEI E4 Conference in Dakar

Engendering Empowerment: Education and Equality (E4) Conference 17- 20 May 2010, Dakar Senegal

FAWE Executive Director, Dr. Codou Diaw, contributed to UNGEI's E4 Conference on 19th May 2010 as a discussant on the plenary session entitled Quality Education for Equality. As keynote speaker for the session, Mr Albert Motivans, Head, Education Indicators and Data Analysis, UNESCO Institute of Statistics presented the latest global quantitative education data available and analysed its interlinkages with educational quality using a gender perspective, with particular reference to Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. The panel was chaired by Mr. Gianfranco Rotigliano, UNICEF Regional Director for West and Central Africa.

FAWE Chapters from Ethiopia, Gambia, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Senegal and Zambia also particpated as part of national delegations.

FAWE is a member of UNGEIs Global Advisory Committee.
