Université Cheikh Anta Diop to host FAWE regional office in Senegal

Friday, 8 May 2009

Senegal’s Université Cheikh Anta Diop has agreed to host FAWE’s West Africa Sub-Regional Office (FAWE-WASRO) at its Gender and Scientific Research Laboratory, the gender research unit established and directed by FAWE Executive Committee member Dr Fatou Sarr.

FAWE-WASRO was established to ensure the timely provision of technical support to FAWE’s West African National Chapters, forge partnerships and strengthen linkages with development partners in the region, and improve the coordination of activities at sub-regional level.

The Gender and Scientific Research Laboratory, based at IFAN, the university’s institute for basic research in Africa, supports female research students specialising in gender research through technical training and bursaries.
