As a member of the UNGEI Global Advisory Committee (GAC), FAWE will attend the Asia-Pacific Technical Meeting on Equity, Gender and Quality in Education in Asia-Pacific to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 11 to 12 June.
The meeting will focus on teaching and learning processes; education and learning outcomes; and transitions from primary to secondary school, from non-formal to formal education and from school to work. The general objectives of the meeting are: to accelerate the sharing of knowledge and experience related to gender in education among UNGEI partners and across regions; and to strengthen regional- and country-level UNGEI networks, activities and impact through interaction with regional UNGEI partners, as well as through advocacy for stakeholders.
To date, notable progress has been made at global level in narrowing the gender gap in primary and secondary education and ensuring equal access to all levels of education for girls and boys. The Asia-Pacific technical meeting is the GAC’s first regional-level meeting and is in line with its aim to focus on the regional and country levels to help boost efforts towards gender equality in education and beyond in a designated region.
