20 years on – FAWE returns to its birthplace at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Centre to plan its future

Wednesday, 7 December 2011

Bellagio CentreFAWE will host a two-day strategic planning workshop at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Centre in Italy – the place of its birth in  September1992 – to consolidate a new strategic plan that will chart a new course for the organisation 20 years after it was founded.

The workshop, to be held from 24 to 28 September 2012, will enable a team comprising FAWE management, strategic and funding partners, and beneficiaries to reflect on FAWE’s contribution to gender and education in Africa over the last 20 years and review its 2013-2017 Strategic Plan in line with emerging needs and challenges in the education sector.

FAWE’s 2013-2017 Strategic Plan will be a product of various consultations with stakeholders including beneficiaries, ministries of education and funding partners, will be
informed by recommendations generated from the mid-term review of the 2008-2012 Strategic Plan.

The new Strategic Plan will also take into consideration the post-2015 Millennium Development Goals (MDG) agenda and make provision for FAWE’s continued contribution to advancing gender equality in African education within this framework.
