FAWE shares perspectives on gender equality in learning at UNESCO-IIEP policy forum
UNESCO’s International Institute for Education Planning (IIEP) invited FAWE’s perspectives on gender equality in education at the Gender Policy Forum in Paris, France, from 3 to 4 October 2011. Organised under the theme ‘Gender Equality in Education: Looking beyond Parity’, the event set out to provide decision-makers, educational planners, researchers and practitioners  with an opportunity to share experiences and lessons learnt on promoting gender equality in education at classroom and institutional levels.

In her keynote speech, FAWE Executive Director Ms Oley Dibba-Wadda reflected on lessons learnt from implementing FAWE’s gender-responsive interventions, and highlighted the link between gender equality in education and the quality of education that children receive. She emphasised the importance of partnership and networking in transforming education as well as the crucial role that evidence-based advocacy plays in influencing governments to integrate gender into national education systems.
