Until her demise, Mrs. Mbaye was a sitting FAWE Africa Board member. She went on to be with her creator on Saturday 14th October 2023, and was laid to rest according to the Islamic rites at Kanifing South Cemetery in The Gambia. FAWE and all her associates mourn a renowned champion of girls\u2019 education rights in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Mbaye served FAWE Africa Board as the Honorary Secretary from 2014 to 2017 and ordinary member from 2020 till her passing. As a FAWE member and board member, Mrs. Mbaye was a go-getter, with full dedication to effectively contribute to FAWE\u2019s agenda for gender equality in education, on the African continent. She will be remembered for her unmatched talent in resource mobilization not only for the girls in the Gambia but on the whole continent. Mrs. Mbaye displayed her talent in resource mobilisation severally by spearheading fundraising drives, most recent of which was in November 2022 towards the African Girls Education Fund (AGEF).<\/p>\n<p>She was a formidable influence and advocate of girls&#8217; rights. Her prowess in the political realm and people relations opened several doors for FAWE\u2019s work. A few days prior to her demise, Mrs. Mbaye was in active communication with the regional secretariat on the successful invitation of the First Lady of the Gambia as the chief guest at the forthcoming FAWE 3rd International Girls Conference in Education. Her untimely death leaves a huge void in FAWE\u2019s plans and progress in the next strategic plan period. We will dearly miss her.<\/p>\n<p>Even in death, she will remain a positive influence on many advocates of education rights for girls in Africa. With the FAWE family and Network, I mourn Mrs. Mbaye and wish to encourage all of us that Mrs. Mbaye\u2019s legacy will not only live on, but also be of influence on whose lives she has touched. I invite you to join me in honoring her, by keeping her footprints visible and productive.<\/p>\n<p>To Mrs. Mbaye\u2019s family, friends, and all loved ones, on behalf of the FAWE Africa Board, staff, and the whole network, I convey our heartfelt condolences. May the Good Lord bestow upon the entire family, solace and fortitude during this period of grief. I pray that you will be blessed with courage to keep going, for even if she is not physically with us, she no doubt remains so in spirit. Jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 son d\u00e9c\u00e8s, Mme Mbaye \u00e9tait membre du Conseil d&#8217;administration du FAWE Afrique. Elle est morte le samedi 14 octobre 2023 et a \u00e9t\u00e9 inhum\u00e9e selon les rites islamiques au cimeti\u00e8re de Kanifing South en Gambie. Le FAWE et tous ses associ\u00e9s sont en deuil d&#8217;une championne renomm\u00e9e des droits \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9ducation des filles en Afrique.<\/p>\n<p>Mme Mbaye a si\u00e9g\u00e9 au Conseil d&#8217;administration du FAWE Afrique en tant que Secr\u00e9taire honoraire de 2014 \u00e0 2017 et en tant que membre ordinaire de 2020 jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 son d\u00e9c\u00e8s. En tant que membre du FAWE et membre du Conseil d&#8217;administration, Mme Mbaye \u00e9tait une personne dynamique, enti\u00e8rement d\u00e9vou\u00e9e \u00e0 contribuer efficacement \u00e0 la r\u00e9alisation des objectifs du FAWE en mati\u00e8re d&#8217;\u00e9galit\u00e9 des sexes dans l&#8217;\u00e9ducation en Afrique. On se souviendra d&#8217;elle pour son talent in\u00e9gal\u00e9 dans la mobilisation des ressources, non seulement pour les filles en Gambie, mais aussi sur l&#8217;ensemble du continent. Mme Mbaye a d\u00e9montr\u00e9 son talent en mati\u00e8re de mobilisation de ressources \u00e0 plusieurs reprises en menant des campagnes de collecte de fonds, dont la plus r\u00e9cente a eu lieu en novembre 2022 en faveur du Fonds pour l&#8217;\u00e9ducation des filles africaines (AGEF).<\/p>\n<p>Elle \u00e9tait une influence formidable et plaidait en faveur des droits des filles. Ses qualit\u00e9s dans le domaine politique et dans les relations humaines ont ouvert plusieurs portes aux activit\u00e9s du FAWE. Quelques jours avant son d\u00e9c\u00e8s, Mme Mbaye \u00e9tait en communication active avec le Secr\u00e9tariat r\u00e9gional sur l&#8217;invitation r\u00e9ussie de la Premi\u00e8re Dame de Gambie en tant qu&#8217;invit\u00e9e d&#8217;honneur \u00e0 la prochaine 3\u00e8me Conf\u00e9rence internationale des filles sur l&#8217;\u00e9ducation du FAWE. Son d\u00e9c\u00e8s pr\u00e9matur\u00e9 laisse un grand vide dans les plans et les progr\u00e8s du FAWE au cours de la prochaine p\u00e9riode du plan strat\u00e9gique. Elle nous manquera \u00e9norm\u00e9ment.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00eame dans la mort, elle restera une influence positive sur de nombreux acteurs du plaidoyer en faveur des droits \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9ducation pour les filles en Afrique. Avec la famille et le r\u00e9seau du FAWE, je regrette Mme Mbaye et souhaite encourager chacun d&#8217;entre nous \u00e0 faire en sorte que l&#8217;h\u00e9ritage de Mme Mbaye ne soit pas seulement perp\u00e9tu\u00e9, mais qu&#8217;il ait \u00e9galement une influence sur les vies qu&#8217;elle a touch\u00e9es. Je vous invite \u00e0 me rejoindre pour l&#8217;honorer, en faisant en sorte que ses empreintes restent visibles et productives.<\/p>\n<p>A la famille de Mme Mbaye, \u00e0 ses amis et \u00e0 tous ceux qui lui sont chers, je pr\u00e9sente, au nom du Conseil d&#8217;administration du FAWE Afrique, de tout son personnel et de l&#8217;ensemble du r\u00e9seau, nos condol\u00e9ances les plus sinc\u00e8res.
